Trauma and Abuse Recovery

If you’ve experienced trauma or abuse, you don’t have to face it alone. At Connected Counseling, we specialize in creating a safe and supportive space where you can begin your healing journey. We understand that trauma recovery can feel daunting, but with the right support, it’s possible to reclaim your life and well-being.

How it works:

Our approach is built on trust, compassion, and patience. Trauma recovery is a deeply personal process, and we work with you at your pace to help you process and heal. Through thoughtful, non-judgmental listening, we’ll help you identify how past experiences are affecting your present and explore ways to reclaim emotional freedom.

Many clients find that working with us provides them with a place where they can finally feel safe to be honest, to unpack the past, and to experience healing—no matter how long it takes. From creating a secure environment to using trauma-informed techniques, we guide you step by step through a healing process that is as unique as your story.

What our clients experience:

  • A safe space to openly explore and process difficult memories
  • A compassionate, consistent therapist who is there through the highs and lows
  • Guidance and support in breaking free from the grip of trauma and reclaiming emotional health

Whether the wounds are recent or long buried, you don’t have to heal alone. Together, we can work through the pain and help you find strength and hope for the future.

F.A.Q.

"How do the virtual counseling sessions work? Do I need any specific software?"

Virtual counseling sessions are easy to use. You will receive a secure link via email, and when it’s time for your session, simply click on the link from any computer, or download the free app on your mobile device. If you’re early, you’ll be placed in a private online waiting room until your counselor arrives.

“I live outside of Kansas City. Can I still meet with you virtually?”

Yes, we currently meet with clients from all over, and virtual sessions are a great option regardless of your location. As long as you have a secure internet connection and a device with a camera, we can conduct a private, secure session.

"How much does counseling cost?"

A 50-minute counseling session costs $150.

“Do you offer financial assistance or accept insurance?”

Yes, we offer an income-based sliding scale to make counseling more affordable for individuals and couples:

  • <$90K income → $90/hour
  • $91K-$120K income → $115/hour
  • $121K+ income → $135/hour
  • $150K+ income → $150/hour

We also provide a discounted rate for pastors and church leaders.

For self-pay clients, you may use the sliding scale based on your household income.

For clients using insurance, we are in-network with select providers. Your out-of-pocket cost will depend on your plan, deductible, and copay. Please note that insurance does not cover marriage counseling, so couples therapy must be self-pay using the sliding scale.

If you have questions about insurance coverage or payment options, don’t hesitate to contact us at info@connectedcounseling.online.

“What if I decide my counselor is not a good fit?”

It’s important to us that you feel comfortable with your counselor. If after your first session you feel that your counselor isn’t the right fit, let us know. We offer a 100% refund for the first session.

Additionally, if you’re unsure about whether our practice or a particular counselor is the right match, we offer a 10-minute exploratory call to discuss your needs and see if we’re a good fit before scheduling a full session.
